Season 5 will officially launch on August 6, 2024, alongside the new season is a new balance patch - Update 1.5.0. This patch is set to bring in new aspects, new uniques, and numerous class balance changes to make more builds viable with the itemization changes coming in.

Season 5 New Features and Mechanics
New Infernal Hordes Content
Season 5 introduces a new endgame content called the Infernal Horde. This new content is a roguelike dungeon where you must clear waves of enemies and choose from various buffs, each with negative effects that persist as long as you are inside the Infernal Horde.
As you defeat enemies in this dungeon, you will earn a new currency called Burning Aether. This currency can be spent at the end of the Infernal Horde to open chests that contains various rewards.

New Unique Items
In Season 5, a new set of Unique Items will be released, with one for each class. Prepare your characters for the endgame, as these new Uniques have a higher drop rate in the new Infernal Horde content.

Tempering Recipes and Aspects Changes
There will be new Legendary Aspects and Tempering Recipes introduced at the start of Season 5. This update allows players to explore new ways to approach and create builds for endgame content.

Plan Your Build and Prepare Early
Make sure to prepare for the endgame by farming Upgrade Materials and acquiring all the Codex Aspects you need for your build to ensure a smooth leveling experience as soon as you unlock WT3 and WT4.
Additionally, since The Pit from Season 4 will carry over to the new season, immediately farm for Tempering Manuals as soon as they are available to access Tempering and Masterworking, which help your character progression in Season 5.
World Tiers Explained
Participate in Helltides
Just like in Season 4, Helltide will immediately be available in World Tiers 1 and 2. For Season 5, your main activity for leveling should be participating in the Helltide Events to acquire better gear and farm Legendary Aspects as you level up.

Complete Strongholds
Make sure to finish up your Strongholds unlocks before going to World Tier 3. Since some dungeons and legion events are locked behind strongholds, it is highly recommended to finish them early to make your leveling grind much faster.

Complete the New Seasonal Questline
For Season 5, there will be a new Seasonal Questline available as soon as you unlock World Tier 3. This questline follows the story of two new NPCs in Hawezar, Locran and Istel. Completing this new questline will help you unlock the Infernal Hordes.
Infernal Horde Guide and How to Unlock
Journey to End Game
Complete your Capstone Dungeons and advance to World Tier 4 to be able to farm Nightmare Dungeons and further increase your level. These activities should eventually lead you to The Pit and Infernal Hordes, which are the pinnacle endgame content.
